Malaysia - off the tourist track

Getting away from the tourist crowd to enjoy pristine trekking - that's what appealed to me about Sungai Relau. Also the possibility of getting to the park's highest mountain quicker was especially an exciting prospect.

Unfortunately the unexpected 6 hour bus journey to the satellite town of Merapoh cut out a lot of my walking time, so Gunung Tahan tek was not a posibility. however I did a 6 hour slog through swampy jungle with plenty elephant spoor, accompanied by insect and animal noise, witnessing much bird life. I spent one night in the deep jungle spying out the amazing glowing mushrooms, fungus and insects... more t follow soon..
